Winchester City Women FC

1) Lee Thubron           Goalkeeper

One of the most experienced and longest serving members Winchester City players in the squad. She is safe, solid and commands her area exceptionally well.

2) Sorcha Hagger       Central Defence

Sorcha came through the youth ranks having been one of the original Fulflood Flyers (now Winchester City Flyers). She is two footed and reads the game fantastically well. One of three sisters in the club, Sorcha is one of the most consistant members of the team.

3) Cathy MacDonald   Central Defence

Club captain Cath has made the change from centre midfield to centre back this season and has been imperious at the back, forming a formidable partnership with Sorcha. Cath has a fierce shot and contributes to the scoring of goals as well as the stopping of them.

4) Vicky Horner          Right Back

Although she came into football relatively late, Vicky has developed fantastically well. This is a testament to her determination and attitude where she puts her all into training and games.

5) Emily McInnes        Central Defence

An integral member of the 03/04 'Invincibles', Emily is pacy and has boundless energy which she commits wholeheartedly to training and in games wherever she plays. Everyone was pleased to see her return from her travels where she seems to have perfected her impression of Martina!!

6) Bex Cleary              Central Midfield

A player that every squad would love to have, Bex is guaranteed to give 100% in games and trains just as hard. Bex has played a number of positions since joining the club and has excelled in all which is a testament to her attitude. This year she has taken over the role of midfield general from the injured Martina. Constantly looking at ways to improve her game, Bex is a key member of the club.

7) Sarah Lewis           Right Midfield

Sarah is comfortable using her left and right foot and has played fullback on either wing. Her work rate has also seen her play both left and right midfield when it has been required and does insist that she can play up front. Sarah is a popular member of the squad.

8) Laura McLaughlan  Left Back

Having joined from Littleton Girls, Laura has fitted in comfortably at leftback this season and uses the ball very well. With good tackling and ball distribution skills, Laura has the potential to develop into a very good player.

9) Holly Parton           Striker

Another Littleton Girls player Holly is a player who knows how to score goals. Although this has been a difficult season for her, Holly has scored 11 goals. She has shown great potential and it is hoped that next season will see her in a position to fulfil that potential.

10) Sarah Gilbert        Striker

Winchester City were happy to have Sara back in the squad after a spell away at University. Sara is pacey and skillful and works tirelessly for the team. She is able to score goals from every angle, both spectacular and mundane, and with her great reading of the game she is able to create chances for her team mates. She is a real asset to the club.

11) Gemma Ryan        Left Midfield

The club were delighted to have Gemma return from University and injury this season. Gemma is a tricky left winger with bags of skill and a great team player. She creates and scores goals as well as tracks back and defends. Gemma is an instrumental player for the club on and off the pitch.

12) Amy Maidment     Right Midfield

Another player that has come through the youth ranks Amy, is the youngest player in the squad. Amy is strong and determined and uses the ball extremely well.

14) Hannah Barker     Center Midfield

Hannah is another player that the club is glad to have back after a spell away at University. Hannah is able to play on the right or in the centre of midfield or upfront with equal ease. She is able to combine flair with diligence, a real quality.

15) Claire Mansell       Right Midfield

A naturally talented ball player Claire has great vision and reads the game well. Equally able to play on the left, right or up front.

16) Jayne Foat           Central Defence

Another player that came into the game quite late in life but through her drive has developed into a strong and determined player. She is able to play a variety of positions all with commitment and tenacity.

17) Lucy Scott           Central Midfield

Lucy is an extremely skilful player and established traveller that is always welcome at the club. Lucy is able to play on the left, centre midfiield or up front with equal ease and grace. Her movement, vision and passing are second to none and she can create oppurtunities for others or score spectacular goals herself.

18) Martina O'Flynn    Central Midfield

An extremely popular player at the club, Martina is a dynamic midfielder that has been the heartbeat of the club for many seasons. Her commitment to the team, dedication and communication are inspirational and give everybody a lift. We have yet to hear her impression of Emily!!
