See You all There

  The Flyer

Welcome to the festive edition of the flyer and the mid season report. It has been a mixed season to date and in hind sight this was to be expected given the chances that have happened with the club.

This season has seen the merger of the two women and girls clubs in the city to make one Winchester City Women and Girls FC. Some of the details of these changes have meant that things that we had hoped to have in place at the start of the season have taken longer than expected to implement but we hope that this is all for the long term best for the club.

This season the club has put out two teams in the Hampshire County Womens League. This is due to the growth of the number of women coming to WCWFC to play football in a friendly environment.

The Club has successfully renewed its Adult Charter Standard award from the FA in recognition of its good work. This is a excellent reward for the hard work of those involved with the club and makes Winchester City Women one of a handful of clubs within the county to be recognised by the FA as a well run set up. However we are always looking to improve what we offer so any suggestions and offers to help develop are gratefully accepted.

This season saw the welcome return of Hannah Barker and Claire Mansell who both missed much of last season to have baby Daniel and baby Olivier respectively. It is nice to see the two of them back at the club.  Hannah has taken a place on the social committee and is doing a fantastic job with the collection of subs.

The collection of Subs has always given the club a major headache but giving people the opportunity to set up monthly standing orders to make payment easier will hopefully ease the pain. Unfortunately we still do not have 100% payment by all players. If you haven’t paid your membership yet please do so asap – you have had half a season of free football. Please contact Hannah on 07817 754920 if you have any concerns about payment or need to know how much you owe. Non-payment will be taken seriously and those who do not come forward may be subject to suspensions from playing!!

We are also looking for extra help with transporting everyone from Winchester to Basingstoke and back on the night. We have two 7-seaters so far, so if you or any member of your family are able to help please let Hannah know asap

If people are asking for ideas for Xmas presents for you how about some shorts and socks to fit in with the new shirts!

We will be playing in the red and black of Winchester City.

Players will be responsible for their own shorts and socks. These can be purchased through the club at a competitive price for shorts and socks (prices available from Sean). If you would like to purchase a pair please fill in the form at the bottom of the newsletter and return it to Sean or Steven by December the 6th.

We are also planning to host a women’s 5-aside football tournament in June, which Hannah is hoping to organise and we would be very grateful of any help from either players or players’ families. We will need help manning drinks and food stalls, setting and clearing up, adjudicating (keeping score boards), collecting team fees and any other jobs that may arise on the day. If you would like to help please let Hannah know and she can allocate tasks on the day.

The club would like to give its massive thanks to

Sean, Steven, Bex, Hannah, Cath, Gemma, and everyone that has found the time however small to help with the running of the club.

If feel that you are able to help in any way, however small, then please contact Sean on 01962 882966. Any little piece of help would be greatly appreciated.
